GLI Small Business breakfast event presenting Addy winner Pip Pullen-Swope from Red7e

Greater Louisville Inc., the Metro Chamber of Commerce, is presenting Louisville marketing whiz Pip Pullen-Swope, fresh from his winning a national gold Addy.

Pullen-Swope, Red7e director of account planning, is scheduled to be the speaker for GLI’s June 16 Small Business at Breakfast Club event.

He’s scheduled to discuss the difference between marketing and advertising and other insights into the world of getting consumers to like your product or company.

“An intelligently conceived, smartly written, and artfully designed advertisement has a critically different effect on a person than a ‘conventionally’ manufactured advertisement,” Pullen-Swope said. “Creating work that evokes an emotional reaction before an intellectual response is the difference between brand advertising … and what most people in the business call ‘advertising.’ ”

Pullen-Swope has more than 25 years’ experience in marketing and advertising,including stints as an illustrator, designer and executive creative director, according to the GLI release.

Last weekend in San Diego, Red7e won the highly coveted gold Addy in the national American Advertising Federation competition, which recognizes about 100 out of 40,000 submissions from across the United States. The award was for a campaign by Pullen-Swope and Red7e President Dan Barbercheck.

The GLI release also includes this interesting bit: “Despite being English, Pip has all his own teeth and does not know the queen.”

All righty, then.

The Small Business breakfast event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Mercy Academy, 5801 Fegenbush Lane.
