Big news seems to drop weekly on Fridays at 4:30 p.m. This time, it’s music news. Louisville-area darlings Houndmouth announced on Twitter that they had important news on their website.

The news? Katie Toupin is leaving the band.

The remaining members of the band said the split was amicable. The band is currently on break from a tour and is returning to the road on April 13. On Facebook the band said Toupin will not finish out the tour, which begins again in Illinois, but all shows will go on as planned.

The band started in 2011 in New Albany. The remaining band members are Matt Myers, Zak Appleby and Shane Cody. They record on Rough Trade Records. “Little Neon Limelite” was released last month and is their second recording.

Toupin co-owns the music-themed clothing store, Bermuda Highway, in NuLu.
