Stars’ Secret: Emmy elegance included texture, volume and loose curls

We at Headz Salon love the Emmy Awards, but sometimes for a different reason than most people who tune in.

Everyone at our shop was knocked out by the style – the hair, make up and fashion displayed on the red carpet for the 2010 Emmy Awards.

All the stars looked stunning in designer gowns and accessories complimented by flawless make up application. And we know how demanding style can be.

The truth is, none of these A-Lister’s would have been able to strike a pose without the perfect hairstyle.

Although a variety of hair masterpieces decorated the red carpet this year, all the looks had three similarities – texture, volume and loose curls.

These three styling techniques can give any celebrity the elegant look needed to accent a designer gown.

They can also be used in everyday living to achieve a new look for us at home. Eva Longoria-Parker and Kim Kardashian both flaunted glowing faces by wearing voluminous up-dos.

These styles were elegant and comfortable since the sections were pinned back loosely and the volume of the styles gave a chic finish. This type of hair creation would work great for a dinner date or a semi formal party.

Heidi Klum and Dianna Agron were a breath of fresh air with their texturized up-dos. While still having volume and class, these celebrity styles had eye catching textured waves that added a tiny edge to their trendy ensembles.

Adding texture to your hair at home can give you more control over curls or shorter haircuts. Shine and separation give a polished, yet fun look that is perfect for work or an evening on the town.

A common misconception is that when dressing up, it is also necessary to dress up your hair.

This simply is not true.

Claire Danes and Lea Michele wore their locks loose for this years’ Emmy Awards. Clare’s wavy curls were a perfect choice for her crystal Giorgio Armani Prive gown.

Lea Michele’s loose curls showed off her warm caramel highlights that were glamorous in the flash of the camera. The well-placed color and curl is also ideal for everyday living.

I love to share my knowledge of how to use texture, volume and curl to your advantage. Take a hint from the celebs and make everyday a red carpet moment.
