World Series 2010: What are those twisted necklaces?

Phiten Athletes

If you’ve paid any attention to the 2010 MLB World Series, you may have noticed many of the players wearing those thick twisted necklaces. Is it a fashion statement, and why are so many players wearing them?

These necklaces are actually performance enhancing jewelry by Phiten USA, a Torrance, Calif.-based company that manufactures a series of “health bands.”

The Phiten jewelry worn by many MLB stars include claims of reducing fatigue and speeding up recovery after hard workouts and intense competitions.

According to their website:

Phiten products work with your body’s energy system, helping to regulate and balance the flow of energy throughout your body. Proper energy balance helps to alleviate discomfort, speed recovery, and counteract fatigue. Athletes find that they tire less easily and recover faster from intense physical activity. Further benefits of Phiten’s exclusive technology are more relaxed muscles leading to less stress and a greater range of motion that can be of great benefit to an athlete or anyone in any walk of life.

Phiten Baseball NecklaceThough there’s not much scientific evidence surrounding these Phiten products, many athletes swear by them.

These thickly banded necklaces and bracelets come with a pretty hefty price as well, so be prepared to dish out around $50 for an MLB Titanium necklace.

Perhaps it’s just a small price for big results. You be the judge; view Phiten’s products via their website.
