The Oakroom explores Sugar & Spice in ‘Fun’ Series
The Oakroom at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel continues its Fun with Wine & Food series on Friday, Aug. 19 with the third of the popular six-part series focusing on pairing wines with sweet and spicy foods.
Bobby Benjamin, chef de cuisine, The Oakroom
“Sugar and Spice is a fun topic to explore because everyone loves their sweet and spicy foods,” chef de cuisine Bobby Benjamin said in a news release. “We’re excited to showcase this topic of the series because it’s a culinary element that everyone can relate to and we think our guests will find it very educational.”
Offering tips on how to avoid common mistakes made in pairing spicy food and wine, sommelier Julie DeFriend will guide guests through an interactive wine tasting as they swirl and sip through a selection of illustrative examples.
The session begins at 6 p.m. and costs $28 per person (complimentary valet parking included). To make reservations, contact Jennifer Biesel at 807-3463 or via email at jennifer.Biesel@ihrco.com.
The fourth session of the series, scheduled for Sept. 23, is titled “Harvest,” and identifies tips for pairing sips with the bounty of the fall season. The popular series continues through November with topics based on each season.
