OMG!

Teenage girls. Mobile devices. The Internet. Boy bands,

Hanging out, fashion and shopping.

Jeez, why didn’t Insider Louisville think of this?

We got a release earlier this week from Natalie Hartman at DBS>Interactive, a Louisville-based web design and marketing company, talking up the on-line fashion mag PopCosmo.

(We wish we could do the little pink heart in “Pop,” the way it is in the PopCosmo logo.)

Apparently Kim Gordon and her daughter Chloe have started PopCosmo in Louisville, with a plan to make it a national teen-resource website/newsletter. (The staff’ “Who We Are” page is great.)

Clearly, live only a brief time, this is a work in progress, though with fun graphics, the site has  great eye appeal.

There four landing page categories – Crave, Study Break, Now, Hangouts. Only Crave has a pull down menu for a fashion page and other stuff.

The Now category has potential for after-game party alerts and concert postings.

Stepping back from being an internet news guy and reverting to my role as father of two Internet savvy daughters ages 11 and  14, I see the potential if PopCosmo integrates its site into some sort of teen-specific social media site, or adds a function that brings different together girls at different schools complete with a boyfriend resource data base. Something like that.

Tricky, that internet.

Here’s the pitch:

PopCosmo.com is the premier e-newsletter for teen girls, and launched in September. PopCosmo was created by mother-daughter team of Kim and Chloe Gordon to be the savvy teen’s go-to guide for the scoop in her city and on the web. Currently, it is a nationwide website as well as a city guide for Louisville’s teen girls to find the coolest trends, stay current on local hangouts, shops, and events. PopCosmo plans to expand to other cities in the future. Teens can stay up to date with the latest in everything by subscribing to their twice weekly e-mail newsletter, perusing the site, and following their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The website features several core areas. Crave will contain articles on the topics of Fashion, Health, Beauty, Entertainment, and Tech. The Study Break section features fun games, quizzes, horoscopes, and quotes. The Now section will keep visitors updated on news and events happening in their city. The Shops area has links to the most fashionable places to buy clothes, accessories, and beauty products. Last, but not least, Hangouts lists fun places for teens to hang out in their town, like amusement centers, outdoor activities, and more.

Visitors are invited to contribute by sharing their favorite shops, hangouts, local bands and style tips with PopCosmo.
