Louisville Collegiate School officials will use part of Humana Foundation grant to start Collegiate Healthy Bytes, a nutritious meal series.
The Collegiate Physical Education Department received a $22,000 grant from Humana Foundation. With a portion of these funds, the school has launched a nutritious meal series, Collegiate Healthy Bytes, according to a news release. The nutrition program is part of fitCollegiate, expanded health and wellness education at the school which includes videos of health recipes and cooking techniques posted on the school website.
Healthy Bytes features four meal presentations hosted by SAGE Dining Chef and Collegiate Food Services Manager Rachael Reigelman.

- Cucumber Tomato Salsa
- Leftover Idea: Fish Tacos
New meals will be posted for December, February and April on the school’s website.
The recipes are a straightforward way cooks of all skill levels can create healthy meals using fresh ingredients, according to the release.
The fitCollegiate grant also will expanded health and wellness education at the school including the purchase of heart rate monitors, with a corresponding fitness program.
Thirteen students and four faculty members will conclude field tests of four different heart monitor models, according to the school website. The Physical Education Department is currently scheduling guest instructors for new and expanded fitness and lifelong physical activity options.
