Varanese hosting South African wine dinner Dec. 13
The menu includes:
First course: grilled cobia served over white grape, watercress and pine nut couscous with citrus Reduction, paired with Arabella Sauvignon Blanc
Second course: mango, cucumber and jicama salad served over bibb lettuce, paired with Rietvallei, “Unoaked” Chardonnay
Third course: slow-braised pork osso bucco served with sautéed spaghetti squash and wild mushrooms finished with a natural pan sauce, paired with Prospect, Blended Red
Fourth course: wok-seared beef with a Szechuan BBQ over sticky rice and broccolini, paired with Leatherwood, Cabernet Sauvignon
Fifth course: bacon-wrapped ostrich stuffed with duck topped with dried currant and Port chutney served with golden beet gratin, paired with Rietvallei, Estèanna
Sixth course: chocolate espresso ice cream cake garnished with espresso truffle, cherry glaze and espresso Anglaise, paired with, The Grinder, Pinotage
