Sources are telling Insider Louisville that Congressman John Yarmuth and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels have called a 4:30 p.m. news conference to announce that Daniels and Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear have a new bridge financing plan.
Kentucky will build the downtown bridge, and Indiana will build the eastern bridge.
Which makes sense, because Indiana business parks will benefit most from an East End bridge.
Here’s the teaser news release we just got from Yarmuth’s office:
Yarmuth Statement on Bridges Agreement
LOUISVILLE – Today, Congressman John Yarmuth (Ky-03) issued the following statement on the agreement in principle between Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels to fund the Ohio River Bridges Project.
“It is very encouraging that Kentucky and Indiana have agreed on a financing plan for the Ohio River Bridges Project,” Congressman Yarmuth said. “This appears to be fair and reasonable for both states, and splitting up the project lowers costs for everyone. With this hurdle cleared, the next major step is for the Kentucky General Assembly to approve the plan.”
It’s funny how governor Beashear announced this agreement yesterday yet today representative Yarmuth is horning in trying to make himself look good politically! The agreement was made between the governors of Kentucky and Indiana, not congressional representatives. If representative Yarmuth or one of the Indiana representatives have been able to obtain additional Federal funding for the project they should be taking credit otherwise they’re just showing their A__ trying to make himself look good!
