World Affairs Council launches new social events series Friday with Coffee & Conversation
The World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana is starting a new series of social events aimed at connecting the area with current or emerging leaders from around the world who can give Louisvillians an international perspective on these important sectors of society.
WAC speakers will be working in government, politics, the media, education, the arts, business and other key fields, according to a news release.
The series starts with a Friday, Jan. 27 Coffee & Conversation scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Java Brewing, 1707 Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands.
The event will feature a U.S. State Department – sponsored group that will be travelling the U.S., speaking about combating human trafficking.
The delegation is a multi-regional group made up of professionals combating and preventing human trafficking, according to the release.
They represent a variety of human rights non-governmental organizations and government agencies from Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Kuwait, Maldives, Qatar and Sri Lanka.
This meet & greet is free and open to WAC members as well as the general public, according to the release.
Coffee and snacks will be provided to attendees. The event is free, but WAC officials ask that attendees RSVP by email to Christy Rhodes at christy.rhodes@worldkentucky.org, or call 502-561-5422 before end of day Thursday.
