Finally, Monstro, the new music sharing application created by Louisville-based ParkVu, is releaseing a mobile chart for SXSW attendees, making it easy to navigate and discover the trending music/events sorted by venue and genre, according to a news release.
The new Monstro music site captures all SXSW music shared on Twitter.
The Monstro chart will provide SXSW attendees with instant, up-to-date information about the artists and music events that are trending at any given moment, the schedule and venues of music acts, which can be sorted by genre, according to the release.
In addition, users can interact, via Twitter, with artists and listen to their music via Rdio.
By collecting Tweets shared about SXSW, “the chart provides a simple, immediate way for fans to interact with artists and discover break-out hits, and artists can respond to and engage with their fans,” according to the release.
“Like Monstro, our goal is to help people discover music and their integration of our API into the Monstro Social Music Chart SXSW Edition gives music fans a great opportunity to listen to the SXSW artists trending each day, instantly via Rdio,” said Marisol Segal, Executive Director, Marketing, Rdio.
“Monstro’s Social Music Chart SXSW Edition is perfect for everyone in Austin to see the SXSW artists that are trending each day—or hour. Monstro easily syncs 2,000+ artists into a bite sized app to allow you to discover new artists, and use Monstro Artist Mixes on Rdio to listen to those new artists before their shows,” said Gill Holland, sonaBLAST! Records. “And don’t forget to check out the sonaBLAST! artists showcasing on Wednesday at Valhalla.”
Venue/Schedule: As SXSW 2012 boasts more than 2,000 music acts performing on over 100 stages at numerous venues throughout Austin, it can be challenging to focus on the logistics of who’s playing and where, and which bands are the most buzz-worthy. The Monstro Social Music Chart SXSW Edition delivers an easy way for attendees, anytime, anywhere, to access on their mobile phones the schedule of events, which can be sorted by genre, time and location.
Trending: SXSW attendees who want to know which artists are trending at any given time can easily access the Monstro Social Music Chart SXSW Edition, and sort it by genre. Trending charts include the Top Daily that shows the hottest bands/artists on a given day of the show, or the Top SXSW Show that lists the top artists for the entire show.
“We want to make it easy for SXSW attendees to see which artists are trending and select which artists to see, and interact with those artists. And, we want to provide a way for artists to interact with their fans,” said Jeff Fedor, co-founder and co-CEO, Monstro. “We think we’ve done that by developing the free Monstro Social Music Chart SXSW Edition.”
