Well, it was bound to happen.
A big-city retailer is opening in NuLu.
But this story has a happy ending if you’re like so many Insider Louisville readers and prefer to buy local.
Taylor Stitch, a higher-end clothier in San Francisco is opening a temporary – that’s temporary – store at 807 E. Market St., an events space just west of Mayan Cafe.
Taylor Stitch’s website features mostly men’s shirts and jeans – clothing that runs from off-the-rack to custom-fit to bespoke. But a news release states there will men’s and women’s clothes.
We have calls into their PR people. But until then, here’s from the Taylor Stitch website:
This whole project started with us setting out to make well constructed shirts that fit. Our custom tailored shirts led way to a collection of off-the-rack shirts, which has led to a continuously growing collection of men’s clothing and accessories. Every project we embark on we take the utmost care with. We’ve learned to never search for shortcuts; just craft honest products that we feel good about delivering to you. We promise we’ll never chase trends, but instead, modernize the timeless staples. By creating classic garments and accessories with impeccable craftsmanship, we are not just offering a piece of clothing but a wardrobe staple worth investing in.
And as you might expect for top end threads, the prices are higher than Wal-Mart, but not all that bad, really, with shirts ranging from $150 to $350.

Taylor Stitch is excited to launch a special collection of Derby-inspired clothing and accessories for the outpost. They will be joined by Paul’s Hatworks – a San Francisco hat shop that has been producing custom men’s hats in the city since 1918.
