Anyway, just in case you were in the Alpha Quadrant on business, Louisville Digital Association members – and they are legion – have divided up into rival Star Trek and Star Wars camps. The factions are competing to see who can raise the most money today via social media sites to buy therapeutic iPads for Apple Patch.
Apple Patch in Crestwood helps provide independent lives for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And what makes people more independent, we ask, than tools such as iPads?

”These are the voyages of the hashtag #TeamStarTrek. Its one-day mission: to explore strange new wishlists, to seek out new iPads and new related donations, to boldly go where no Apple Patch fundraiser has gone before.”
At last the hour of battle has arrived, fellow Trekkies and Jedi. Today we settle which sci-fi fanbase is the most generous, and therefore which sci-fi franchise is the most awesome.
The terms of the engagement are simple: whichever Amazon wishlist — #TeamStarTrek or #TeamStarWars — generates the most donations for Apple Patch’s therapeutic iPad fundraiser for autistic adults will determine the Louisville Digital Association’s Nerd Clan Supreme for 2012. The donation period ends at 5pm Eastern today, April 18.
To aid your chosen side, Twitter maven @CHRISTINEinLOU will be tweeting out the donation standings of each faction between 9am and 5pm today. Tune in and donate to keep your favorite geek fleet in the lead. If you want to ensure yours is the winning franchise, we humbly suggest rallying donations to your cause via social media — Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, MySpace and this old-fashion thing called “email” — by blasting out the appropriate wishlist link and, where fashionable, its associated hashtag.
