Why “Juice”?
It just came to us, the colloquialism for excited and engaged.
Our readers are juiced about changes in this once stodgy city. A significant and growing segment of people are juiced about farm-to-table. Green. Fitness. Travel and the outdoors.
With this new section, we’re betting Louisville will be at the vanguard in the south for a full-force, vibrant, healthy-living movement that’s a tangible presence in our parks, farmers markets, better restaurants, hiking trails, gyms and yoga studios.
Juice is really the vision of JillAnn Gish, a registered dietitian and personal trainer, who pitched us the idea just a couple of months ago.
Why not, JillAnn said, tap into the people like us who are interested in nutrition, fitness, food, health and healthy kids?
Healthy and fit are adjectives more of us to aspire to, and more and more Louisvillians are actually achieving.
It took us about 10 seconds to say, “Yes! Let’s do it.”
If only it were that simple. We’ve had a lot of technical challenges and missteps, but here it is.
Juice adds another dimension to our little digital enterprise with personalities such as JillAnn and Foodie Girl Lindsey McClave. It’s a place where retail-savvy writers such as Steve Kaufman will contribute.
There will be new contributors over the next few weeks with fresh ideas about how to make your life fuller and more fun.
Is this just another goofy “lifestyles” section like in the newspaper?
We hope not. Our goal is to work you. To entertain you. To educate you. To juice you up.
