Varanese hosting combined Justin and Landmark Wineries dinner on May 22

The weather is warm and the glass wall is retracted at Varanese, where a Justin and Landmark Wineries dinner is scheduled for May 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Rebecca Hotz, on-premise manager in Kentucky and Ohio for both vineyards, will be the evening’s special guest speaker. She will describe each wine pairing and take questions from guests.

Cost is $65 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and vegetarian and/or food-only options available upon request. To make reservations, call 899-9904.

On the evening’s menu:

First course: Creamy cheese grilled between slices of brioche with house-made bourbon barrel-smoked bacon served with apple and walnut slaw, paired with Justin Sauvignon Blanc

Second course: Crispy-fried soft shell crab with smoky shrimp and tomato vinaigrette garnished with snow pea tendril salad, paired with Landmark Overlook Chardonnay

Third course: Slow braised pork ribs with cherry barbecue glaze served with garlic and scallion sweet potato fries, paired with Landmark Overlook Pinot Noir

Fourth course: Lamb with a dried blueberry and arugula couscous topped with pickled onions and drizzled with blood orange yogurt, paired with Justin Cabernet

Fifth course: Prime skirt steak roulade served with a bone marrow bread pudding, grilled ramps and ancho chili demi-glace, paired with Justin Justification

Sixth course: Chocolate-strawberry cream cake served with a strawberry-balsamic ice cream, paired with Justin Obtuse.
