Along the way, in addition to its original location at 4735 Poplar Level Road, GMeals added a Holiday Manor outlet and a Senior and Homebound delivery meal program.
And now it will have a place at the University of Louisville downtown medical center. At the medical center location only, GMeals will offer senior/diabetic meals in addition to the regular fare.
To remind you, Gmeals began in January, offering fresh prepared meals available for pick-up Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. At the time, owner and managing partner John Shaw-Woo told Insider Louisville, “my goal with GMeals is to start giving Louisvillians more affordable and nutritious dining choices.”
When it began, the meal items – priced from $3 to $13 – included quiche-tatta, pecan waffles, chocolate cranberry muffins and cinnamon apple oatmeal at breakfast; and Italian white bean soup, curried chicken salad sandwich, shrimp pad Thai and salmon roasted on a cedar plank for lunch and dinner. S
ince then, the menus have been expanded to include pasta, soups, salads, sides, desserts, kids’ meals and drinks.
Prices for the senior/diabetic meals will range from $4 to $6.
“Before now,” says Shaw-Woo, “the meals were only available through the Senior and Homebound delivery meal program, as part of a dietary regimen.”
That program, introduced in May, offered a range of entrée selections, following guidelines set by the American Diabetes Association, available to be picked up or delivered free of charge.
There are four-day, seven-day, 14-day and 28-day meal plans.
