Alltech launching global Generation Ali movement during Olympics in collaboration with Muhammad Ali Center
We’re not 100 percent clear on what this is about, but it sounds potentially interesting.
Alltech, the Lexington, Ky.-based animal feed supplement giant, is trying to create a global buzz at the Olympics next month with a social media campaign they’re calling “Generation Ali,” a campaign in collaboration with the Muhammad Ali Center here in Louisville.
The campaign started yesterday on a new website with “global conversations about greatness and be part of a powerful force of like-minded leaders wanting to work for world peace, civil rights, cross-cultural understanding, interfaith relations, humanitarianism, hunger relief, or the commonality of basic human values.”
While the Olympic Games symbolize the spirit of excellence, global unity, and healthy competition, a new movement called Generation Ali will inspire a new generation of leaders beyond the Olympics to achieve greatness on local, national, and global levels. The Generation Ali social media campaign, sponsored by Lexington, Kentucky-based Alltech, will launch at the London Olympics and will link young leaders around the world to collaborate and encourage one another to transform the world in positive and compassionate ways.
The Olympics are a fitting time to launch such a global campaign, for Muhammad Ali, co-founder of the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky USA, has been associated with the Olympic Games for over fifty years. In 1960 in Rome, Mr. Ali (then Cassius Clay) first broke onto the world stage by winning Olympic Gold. Thirty-six years later, he appeared in front of the world again on a summer’s night in Atlanta, Georgia, where he would light the Olympic cauldron in front of 3 billion people. Many years and several Olympics since then, individuals around the world still remember that moment with emotion and awe.
“Muhammad Ali has a unique power to inspire and motivate people, and we are proud to support the Generation Ali project because we share the passion to make positive changes for future generations. And with passion, we can achieve great things,” said Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech.
In recent years, Alltech and the Muhammad Ali Center have collaborated on several initiatives, including a trip to the United Kingdom and Ireland to raise awareness and support for the Alltech-Muhammad Ali Center Global Education and Charitable Fund; the Be A Hero Campaign to help children, and the 2010Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington.
