Happy coincidence: Consequence of Sound reviews ‘Melt,’ new release by The Pass, who’s at Zanzabar tonight

Insider Louisville music master Michael Tierney told you Thursday about The Pass, and how they’re playing tonight at Zanzabar.

Michael is not the only one noticing this Louisville-based techno band: National music website Consequence of Sound has a post on The Pass’ second album, “Melt,” in its New Music section.

Consequence of Sound writer Chris Coplan quotes The Pass bassist Will Roberts as saying “Melt” is about The Pass bringing more emotion to a genre that’s essentially meant to keep the party  goin’.

Lyrically, the aforementioned darker elements are at play, with the band simultaneously celebrating and condemning a charismatic character in their life (“You’re cosmopolitan/Turning everyone into citizens of the world in which you live in/You’re making the movements everyone follows/You’re calculated, you only take what you can handle”).

If you like what you read, you can hear The Pass tonight at Zanzabar, 21oo S. Preston St., near the University of Louisville.

The show starts at 9 p.m.
