Phoenix Hill NuLu Farmers' Market Summer Festival/Health Fair Tue., July 31

by Staff

The Phoenix Hill NuLu Farmers’ Market is having its Summer Festival and Mini Health Fair next week.

The festival is scheduled for Tues., July 31 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 1007 E. Jefferson St.

(We like organizer Cindy Kinloch’s news releases because she has no BS, easy to understand info: The event is in the big parking lot behind Fresh Start Growers Supply, at the corner of Jefferson and Baxter. Easy peasy.)

This is the farmer’s market that used to be in the parking lot of the now defunct The Bodega parking lot in NuLu. The farmers have moved over to Fresh Start, on the main route downtown from the Highlands and Phoenix Hill.

Cindy told us last week the volume of visitors has skyrocketed with the increased visibility. We saw for ourselves last Tuesday, even as temperatures topped out at 100 degrees.

This week is forecast to be cooler, so here at the details:

  • Food Trucks: Maria Bell’s Greek Food, Ears What’s Poppin’ Kettle Corn, and San Diego Sandwich Works (they have great smoothies!)
  • Music by members of Appalatin.
  • Health Fair Booths (including the Giant Inflatable Colon… yes, you heard that right!!)
  • Inflatable slide for the kids (and maybe a few adults!) and other children’s activities

And of course, farmers and vendors with everything from Greek foods to honey to exotic veggies. (Blue potatoes … you have to try them.)

From Cindy: “Come out and support local farmers and vendors, listen to great music, talk to your neighbors, grab dinner (either already prepared or take some fresh food home to cook), and have some fun.”
