No one know how to pull together an entertaining evening better than Stacey Servo and Amador Delatorre III, founders of New2Lou.
Because Stacey and Amador do it professionally.
They created New2Lou for new arrivals in Louisville … and anyone trying to expand their social horizons.
New2Lou hosts a social event at a different restaurant or bar every second Wednesday of each month.
So when they make entertainment recommendations, we listen, then pass them on to you.
Here are their recommendations for the weekend:
There is always a ton of great events going on, but sometimes you just need some help finding them.
Lucky for you, we’re here to help. We’ve posted links to several event calendars on our events page to keep you up-to-date on local events. But we also wanted to highlight our top picks, because we’re cool like that.
Thursday (8/23) - Luis Gispert Artist Lecture: 21 C will welcome acclaimed artist Luis Gispert for a free artist lecture in the Atrium Gallery at 7 pm. Reception and book signing will follow.
Friday (8/24) - Rock Around the Louisville Clock: After undergoing an extensive renovation, the city is celebrating the return of the historic Louisville Clock to downtown. The mayor will kick off the festivities at 5 pm at Theatre Square.
Saturday (8/25) - 6th Annual Hike for Hosparus: 5K run and family hike that benefits the Hosparus Kourageous Kids pediatric program. Kick start your Saturday will a fun activity and support a great cause!
Saturday (8/25) - Back Porch Sessions at Rye: Free outdoor music event on you guessed it, the back porch of Rye. Featured musicians will be The 23 String Band along with some special guests.
Sunday (8/26) - Louisville Ford Ironman: Let’s face it, most of us will never compete in the Ironman, but that doesn’t stop us from supporting those that do. Sign up as a volunteer or simply cheer the athletes on as they pass at the Fourth Street Live finish line. Also be aware of road closures, so you don’t get stuck in a traffic jam.
Thursday (8/16) – Sunday (8/26) - Kentucky State Fair: Ok, so we’ll be honest. We’ve never attended the state fair, but regretted not going every single year. We’ve seen far too many posts and pictures showcasing the wide variety of people, activities, and food to let yet another year pass us by.
