We have a hunch the judges elections are going to be more high profile for 2012 than during years past. (Just a hunch.)
So we read with interest that Citizens for Better Judges announced its endorsement yesterday in the contested November 6 election for the Jefferson Circuit Court, Division 10 seat, which is vacant.
CBJ is endorsing Eric L. Ison over Jefferson District Court Chief Judge Angela McCormick Bisig.
Here’s the short but sweet endoresment:
Eric L. Ison met the high standards and demanding criteria established for endorsement by Citizens for Better Judges and he is recommended to the electorate as the most qualified in the Jefferson Circuit Court judicial race.
Ison has been a partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll, which was Greenbaum Doll, for 34 years, according to his profile, which you can see here.
Here’s the explainer on CBJ:
Citizens for Better Judges consists of a 30-member Steering Committee made up of lawyers who are all involved in litigation practice but concentrate in different fields of law, and a Citizens Review Board consisting of a cross-section of community-minded citizens with diverse occupations and backgrounds. Additionally, the organization has an Advisory Board made up of the past chairs of CBJ.
Each candidate for judicial office is personally interviewed by the Steering Committee. After the interviews have been completed, the Steering Committee members consider the information obtained during the interviews and share their personal knowledge of the candidates. Lay members of the Citizens Review Board are present to monitor the interviews and the integrity of the endorsement process. The Citizens Review Board must approve the endorsements recommended by the Steering Committee.
The endorsement process for the upcoming election was completed on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, and involved consideration of three candidates for the vacancy in the Jefferson Circuit Court.
The Chair of the Steering Committee is Darryl W. Durham.
Reginald A. Bruce, Ph.D. and Reverend Joseph T. Graffis serve as Co-Chairs of the Citizens Review Board.
The members of the Attorney Steering Committee are:
