Bernheim presenting photographer Allen Rokach for Friday lecture, 2-day workshop Saturday and Sunday

Bernheim Arbortum and Research Forest officials are bringing back nationally-renowned photographer Allen Rokach for two events during the 2011 Louisville Photo Biennial:

  • “An Evening with Allen Rokach” photo lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, October 21. The lecture will be at Actors Theatre of Louisville’s business office at 315 West Market near FedEx Kinko’s. Rokach’s talk is meant for photographers and “all fans of nature,” according to a Bernheim release. On assignment around the world, he has been the director of photography at the New York Botanical Garden and he spent 10 years as a senior photographer for Southern Living magazine, according to the release. He also founded the Center for Nature Photography. The lecture takes place in Louisville the evening before Rokach’s two-day workshop at Bernheim. The lecture is open to the public. Suggested donation is $5 per person, with proceeds benefiting Bernheim.
  • On Saturday and Sunday, Rokach will conduct his Bernheim Ablaze workshops. The two-day intensive workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced photographers, The fee for Bernheim members is $270, $300 for non-members. For more details about the workshops, see the Bernheim webstie here.

About the Photo Biennial: The Photo Biennial is Louisville’s premier photographic festival. The biennial takes place throughout the city during the month of October. Embracing local, national and international photography, workshops, symposia, public discussions and more than 30 exhibitions city-wide, the Photo Biennial will celebrate artistic excellence in this rich and diverse medium. About Bernheim Forest: Bernheim is 20 minutes by car south of the Louisville airport at exit 112 on Interstate-65 at Highway 245. The entrance is one mile on the right. Bernheim’s hours are daily, 7 a.m. until sunset, except December 25 and January 1. Admission to the park is free for members and free for all every weekday. Weekends and holidays have a $5 environmental impact fee per vehicle for the public.
