Three times before 3 p.m. today, examples of Louisville in the national spotlight appeared in our email inboxes.

1) A two-page, illustrated spread on East Market Street will be in January’s Conde Naste Traveler Magazine.

The article was written by former Louisvillian and former editor Zach Everson and illustrated by non-local (in fact, British) Jonny Hannah. Thanks to Gill Holland for the tip.

2) The December/January issue of National Geographic named Louisville one of the “20 Must-See Places for 2014.”

Thanks to the Mayor’s Office for highlighting this in their weekly newsletter. “Where bourbon always hits the spot” focuses on the Urban Bourbon industry and the “surplus of top shelf bars and restaurants pouring the state’s finest.” The article name-drops Proof, the Silver Dollar and Down One Bourbon Bar as great places to partake of the spirits.

3) In a series called “Heartland Hotspots,” USA Today has a three-plus minute video on the city.

It’s a nice, compact travelogue for the city, and it spends a lot of time exploring the NuLu neighborhood. They talk to lots of local luminaries like Ivor Chodkowski of Harvest, entrepreneur Gill Holland, Jim George of Scout, Alice Gray Stites of 21c Hotel and Museum, and Why Louisville‘s Will Russell.

(This has been on Youtube since the end of November but didn’t make it to USA Today until today.)
