Yes, we’ve seen some flurries in the air this week, but spring is right around the corner.
And that means farmers markets are almost here.
Last weekend, the Flea Off Market had its first flea market of the season, whetting everyone’s appetite for outdoor market and festival season. The weather was gorgeous, and the event saw decent crowds both days.
Next Saturday, Mar. 23 marks the first Douglass Loop Farmers Market of the spring season. The DLFM is open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 2005 Bardstown Road.
The market will feature more 50 vendors of local goods, meat and produce, fresh flowers and stuff for your spring gardening needs.
Grind and Holy Mole will be serving food from their trucks. It may be a little early for the New Orleans Style Sno-Ball truck to be out, but we can cross our fingers and hope. Asiatique and Farm to Fork Catering will have food tents serving breakfast and lunch. Typically, DLFM also features live music.
DLFM has the distinction of being the only dog-friendly farmer’s market in the Highlands. Leashed and licensed dogs are welcome at the market, and Rocko’s Rewards will be there to give out samples of all-natural dog biscuits.
