Scoppechio, the state’s largest advertising and marketing agency, is moving into new downtown digs.
The firm’s director of marketing and business development, Kate Gray, tells IL that Scoppechio has outgrown its longtime home at the corner of Jefferson and Fifth streets, where it’s been located for the past 23 years.
Though Gray was reluctant to divulge many details about the move given the lease was just finalized, she did acknowledge the firm will take over two floors of 400 West Market (formerly the Aegon Center) just up the block.
“It’s an exciting time for us,” Gray said.
In explaining the move, Gray said Scoppechio was looking for “more collaborative space” where it can “continue growing.”
Scoppechio has around 170 employees and is “always hiring,” according to Gray. In 2014, IL reported that Scoppechio had a staff of 170, meaning the number remains about the same, although it’s worth noting the firm hired a VP of human resources earlier this year. Scoppechio billed the hire as an expansion of its leadership team, with the new hire — Melinda Adams — charged with talent recruitment.
“The last few years have been exceptional periods of growth and transition for our firm,” Jerry Preyss, CEO at Scoppechio, said in a statement about the move. He added: “Our success has allowed us to expand Scoppechio’s presence into new markets and reinvest in our people and resources. Moving into a new space is just another part of the journey for the agency as we continue to better align our value proposition with the needs of our clients, while providing an inspiring place for our team to come to work every day.”
The firm was founded by Debbie Scoppechio as Creative Alliance. The name change happened in 2014 as Scoppechio prepared to retire. The The agency touts billings exceeding $200 million, with prominent clients including Kentucky Tourism, KFC, GE Appliances and Louisville International Airport.
