Black Friday is still a couple of weeks away, but NuLu retailers are offering consumers a chance to get a head start on their holiday shopping and shop locally by offering various deals.

The NuLu Business Association is hosting its annual Holiday Open House Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will include pop-up musicians and a performance by Commonwealth Theatre, as well as appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Clauses will roam NuLu from noon until 3 p.m. and will be available for photos.

The event also is the official kick-off of the NuLuDays Holiday Cocktail Challenge, which runs through Dec. 3. Bars and restaurants in NuLu will offer a special holiday beverage featuring Four Roses Bourbon. People 21 and older are encouraged to sample each businesses’ concoction and vote by posting a photo of the cocktail on Twitter or Instagram, tagging Four Roses Bourbon and using the hashtag #NuLuDays.

Participating businesses include: Against the Grain Brewery, Decca, Feast BBQ, Garage Bar, Harvest Restaurant, Haymarket Whiskey Bar, Royals Hot Chicken, RYE and TAJ Louisville.
