Lula’s Frozen Yogurt & Treats has permanently closed.

The colorfully-decorated shop located 1501 Bardstown Road is now empty. It was a Highlands destination for many and a prime stop following a meal at one of the restaurants in the vicinity in its location at the corner of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway.

The yogurt establishment, which had been in business since 2013, changed its winter hours late last year, and in late December announced it would be closed for the holidays, promising “we will see you next year.”

On March 4, the business’ Facebook page announced, “It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close our doors. Though Lula’s is gone, you will not be forgotten. We appreciate every customer who has graced our establishment, and wish you all the best life has to offer. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

The announcement included several photos of the stripped-down business. The shop was known for its flavored frozen yogurts, ice cream, milkshakes and other frozen treats, along with its “Brain Freeze Challenge.”

A message sent to owner Mark Van Amburgh via Facebook was not immediately answered.
