Louisville, which has a huge equestrian community, once had a vibrant polo scene back in the day.
Now, luxury real estate mogul John Lenihan is trying to revive the popularity of the sport here. You can see the results this afternoon … and for free!
Lenihan Sotheby’s International Realty, his luxury residential real estate firm and is hosting the final match of the 2012 Sophisticated Living polo season at Oxmoor Farm behind Oxmoor Center.
“The Sophisticated Living Polo Series has been an excellent opportunity for us to engage our clientele in a relaxed atmosphere that’s fun for the whole family,” Lenihan said.
“When we were approached about becoming the presenting sponsor, we saw it as a chance to bring the Louisville polo scene back to what it was at the height of Hardscuffle’s popularity. Prior to the development of the SL Polo Series in 2011, there just hadn’t been any real focus on developing a world-class polo event for Louisville and we are proud to be an integral part of its success.”
This Saturday’s event is the World Cup and final match of the 2012 season.
Gates open at 3 p.m. and the first match begins at 4 p.m.
Admissions is free, and the event includes food, drinks, live music, pony rides, hot air balloon rides, and of course, polo.
