SkillsUSA, a national organization supporting career and technical education, held its National Leadership and Skills Conference at the Kentucky Exposition Center this week. The conference offered competitions across a variety of fields, and businesses from around Louisville showcased their services.

Students of all ages from around the country competed in different challenges, focusing on hands-on skills. In one of the largest competitions, students created mobile robots that had to perform certain tasks. Students also competed in categories like culinary arts and video production.

The conference also offered special guests like Mike Rowe, the former host of the Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs.” He is an advocate for trade skills education and the SkillsUSA organization.

The SkillsUSA competitions took place on Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the awards ceremony is Friday at 5.
