Bellweather Solutions, a Louisville startup, is the recipient of Access Ventures’ most recent Growth Loan. Bellweather is a custom weather-normalization tool used by utilities to show historical weather patterns for load-planning purposes.
Founder Chris Heiniger is the managing director. He is a former economic analyst from LG&E.
According to the Access Ventures announcement, “Bellweather helps utilities understand energy use patterns, which is leveraged into more efficient operation and delivery.”
Current energy analytics don’t have a way of factoring in extreme weather. Bellweather does this by using “hourly observations and modeling weather response with thousands of polynomial equations.”
The Growth Loan for this early-stage company will allow Heiniger to visit conferences, create marketing material and bring on more clients.
Like Access Ventures, Bellweather is located in the Shelby Park neighborhood.
