opencoffeeOn Monday, Oct. 12, we are looking forward to meeting the winners of the Louisville Startup Weekend as well as getting to know Pittsburgh entrepreneur Kit Mueller.

Startup Weekend is a global educational event that challenges attendees with back-of-the-napkin business ideas to learn and launch during a weekend. The event encourages experiments and frequent interaction with potential customers as the product or service offering evolves into a scalable venture.

Attendees share their startup concepts with each other and self-select into working groups that continue development and experimentation that concludes in a pitch to a panel of judges. Startup Weekend has had over 600 attendees across their previous events in the area; the event this weekend, Oct. 9-11, marks the seventh event. Louisville’s Startup Weekend is led by an all volunteer group and made possible by generous donations from their sponsors.

Kit Mueller is a seasoned entrepreneur that has had stints in his native and current home Pittsburgh and startup experience in Chicago. Kit is the founder of ShiftPgh collaborative campus for technology, business and design for entrepreneurs, and RustBuilt, a not-for-profit initiative with the sole purpose of shedding a light on the collective and valuable innovation and entrepreneurialism of the Rust Belt. More info about Kit and his involvement in the Pittsburgh startup scene can be found here.

Please join us this Monday, Oct. 12, at 8 a.m. at iHub for Open Coffee. Thanks as always to Heine Bros for the coffee, and to Nucleus for letting us use their iHub facility.
