You don’t have to be a Startup Weekend alumni to attend Startup Next, but they’re both in the same family. Startup Next, held at Velocity, is a nationwide pre-accelerator program — in fact, it bills itself as the No. 1 such program in the world.

If you’re looking to get your startup team into an accelerator program, this is exactly where you want to be. It’s a five-week program that meets every Tuesday for three hours at 6 p.m. from Oct. 28-Dec. 2. The program costs $200 per team member.

There’s a lot more information on the Velocity website. But here’s what they’re looking for in their applications:

Big & Unique Idea

  • Startups must be working on a unique technology-enabled startup idea and attacking a big market

Progress or Current Traction

  • Evidence of execution – Some proof of an MVP needed as we want teams at more than just an idea stage
  • Problem/solution fit – Some level of previous customer validation already done and usage validation (users, revenue, LOIs, etc.). We want teams we can help focus on getting closer to product/market fit.

Team video

  • Video submissions are a good indicator of startups looking at this as an opportunity and will be willing to invest the time needed during the program.

For those of you in Louisville who are planning to attend the the U of L football game vs. Florida State that starts at 7:30 p.m. – don’t worry. Our doors will open for Demo Day at 3:45 p.m., and we will begin introductory remarks at 4:15 p.m. Presentations will begin at 4:30 p.m. For those of you who have to get to the game, the presentations will be finished by 5:45 p.m. A reception will follow for those who are not attending the game.
