Theo Edmonds, co-founder of the innovation and cultural think tank IDEAS xLab, will be September’s keynote speaker at the monthly Venture Connectors Luncheon. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

In 2015, Southern Living Magazine named Edmonds as one of “50 People Changing the South.”

He co-founded IDEAS xLab in 2012. The organization connects artists, entrepreneurs, corporations and philanthropists “to create equitable places and nurture healthy people,” according to the mission statement. Health justice, both on a local and global scale, is the anchoring goal of the organization.

He also co-founded Creative Agents of Change Foundation in 2015 to train and incubate artists toward the goal of making them “change-makers” in the field of health justice.

Edmonds has a bachelor’s degree in theater from Transylvania University, a law degree and master’s of health administration from Tulane University, and a master’s of fine arts from University of Kentucky. He currently is a Leadership Louisville Center Bingham Fellow, a commissioner on Louisville Metro Government’s Commission on Public Art, and a board member of the national Private Sector Council of Americans for the Arts.

Venture Connectors meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the meeting runs from noon-1:15 p.m. Registration is required at: ventureconnectors.org. Members attend free; associate members pay $30.
