The end of summer is bad enough for school kids, with the packing away of some fun and freedom and the picking up of school. But for some kids, the end of summer also means a financial burden: new clothes, new shoes, new school supplies.
But you can help Jewish Family and Career Services ease a little of that burden for up to 100 local children. Help them stock and set up their School Supply Shoppe for kids in our community.
JFCS is hosting an event on Wednesday, Aug. 3. When you register to attend, you’ll be given a school supply list — for a lower, middle or upper school student. Attend the event and drop off the items. And while you’re there, there will be light refreshments, live bluegrass music and trivia hosted by Louisville Trivia.
The event is geared toward young professionals, but anyone over 21 can attend.
This year, JFCS has seen the request for supplies go up 25 percent, so it’s important that they ramp up their stocks. If you can’t attend or don’t feel like shopping, you can donate $25 or more at the registry website.
The event runs from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3. JFCS is located 2821 Klempner Way. To RSVP and receive your shopping list, click here.
