The University of Louisville Foundation plans to build an 11-story, 329,394-square-foot office building in downtown Louisville.
The foundation filed plans with Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government for the second building on the J.D. Nichols Campus for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, located at 350 E. Market St. The first was the Nucleus building, which is anchored by Atria Senior Living.
The new building will include Class AA+ office space as well as at least 15,559 square feet of retail and a 6,830-square-foot restaurant, according to the plans.
The building will be constructed of a glazed curtain wall, metal panels and a stone veneer, and it will qualify for LEED certification, the submitted plans state. Ohio-based architecture firm BDHP created preliminary renderings of what the building may look like once complete. (See above.)
According to the renderings, it looks like U of L will let a company pay to put its name on the building, similar to Atria at the Nucleus building.
The plans noted that the 1.17-acre property is valued at nearly $2.5 million but doesn’t indicate how much construction will cost.
Matthew Ricketts, senior vice president of NTS Development Co. who is spearheading the project, is on vacation and unable to comment on the recently filed plans. Louisville-based NTS is developing the campus, which is named after the company’s founder and chairman, J.D. Nichols.
Jason Tomlinson, the U of L Foundation’s chief financial officer, did not immediately return a call for comment.
