Want to read about a presidential campaign that doesn’t make you die a little inside? One that will actually put a smile on your face?
Meet Zoe, she’s running for president …
… in 2064.
Or at least she could, reasons a new fundraising and advertising campaign from the YMCA-USA and YMCA of Greater Louisville, because she is happy, healthy and full of potential. “Zoe for President” is a new ad campaign and website featuring an adorable 1-year-old.
According to a news release: “As the nation braces for what is already a contentious campaign, ‘Zoe for President’ aims to be a breath of fresh air — a campaign that addresses actual issues faced by our youth and families alike, and the YMCA’s part in fixing them. The campaign highlights the potential in all kids to change the world if they’re nurtured properly and supported throughout childhood and their teen years.”
The campaign highlights the programs the YMCA offers that can keep kids like Zoe healthy and successful “from birth to president.” Programs include early learning readiness, after-school programs, water safety and college prep.
The organization also helps to build stronger family through wellness, volunteerism and family nights at the Y.
And then there is the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association, which offers an array of leadership and advocacy programs, including mock government events — which sounds like a perfect fit for young Zoe in several years.
Here’s another precious Zoe video. “She’s counting on your vote … as soon as she learns to count.”
And one more … which is pretty much a shorter version of the first.
The YMCA has a 160-year history in Louisville and 16 locations. Find the one closest to you.
And vote for Zoe.
Now we go back to our already scheduled political Hellmouth.
