Even though it is downright frigid in Louisville at the moment, a summer breeze will be wafting through the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center this week as the 62nd annual Progressive Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow returns with pontoons, paddle boards, pop-up tents and a plethora of warm-weather gadgets.

The five-day event starts Wednesday, Jan. 23, and continues through Sunday, Jan. 27.

Along with thousands of boats, campers, high-end RVs and all the gear needed to enjoy those things, the show also will feature an interactive 5,000-gallon aquarium where you can watch anglers demonstrate their fishing and casting skills — and watch the fish; catch-and-release fishing for children in the Trout Pond; a Paddle Sports Pool where you can try a paddle board; and an appearance by Tyler Feaster from “The Outdoors in the Bluegrass” TV show.

And if you needed more arm-twisting, Yogi Bear will be hanging out at the event all week long in his Bear Cave Fun Zone and will be available for autographs, bear hugs and more, courtesy of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Resort Mammoth Cave.

On Thursday, organizers are planning what they call “Super Thursday,” which will feature a superhero meet-and-greet for children from 6 to 8 p.m., plus $5 admission after 5 p.m. (online tickets only), $5 beers and $5 hamburgers.

And on Friday, there will be a poker run, with a slight twist.

The Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow is open to all ages. Hours are Wednesday, 5-9 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, noon-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, and free for children 12 and under. There’s also a $2 discount if you purchase tickets before the end of the day on Jan. 22.

Active military get free admission with a military ID, and those 60 and older get in for $10.
