Against the Grain Brewery announced it has partnered with River City Distributing Inc. for its local product distribution.

The brewery, which previously had worked with Dauntless Distributing, another Louisville-based alcohol distributor, wants to assure its products are more readily available in Louisville and in seven counties that surround Jefferson County, according to a news release.

The partnership officially kicked off Dec. 18, and the brewery’s announcement said it has already resulted in 22 new accounts.

“It’s no secret that they’re the strongest and most apt distributing partner in the Louisville market,” said Sam Cruz, co-owner of Against the Grain, in the release. “From the moment we started working with them, our distribution reach locally increased dramatically.”

River City, founded in 1987, will target package stores as well as bars and restaurants in getting Against the Grain products into new locations around the area.

Beers such as Citra Ass Down, The Brown Note and Pile of Face have been widely distributed, with markets all over the U.S. and abroad.

River City will carry those beers along with 35K and Retitled Pilsner.

The partnership with River City, however, could bring Against the Grain more prominence in its home state. Ryan Burke, vice president of operations at the distributor, said in the release that Against the Grain “has played an important role in putting Kentucky beer on the map and showing that bourbon is not the only great drink that comes from our state.”

Other area breweries that partner with River City Distributing include Goodwood Brewing, New Albanian Brewing Co., West Sixth Brewing and Alltech.
