While we kind of hoped the “spirits conference” coming to town was about the “boo!” kind of spirits, the “distilled beverages” kind of spirits definitely would be our second choice.
The American Distilling Institute will hold its 12th annual spirits conference and vendor expo at the Kentucky International Convention Center later this month. The event includes hands-on workshops, expert lectures, distillery tours and tastings over four days.
Organizers expect more than 1,000 attendees and 120 exhibitors for the four-day conference and expo.
ADI is a professional organization that promotes the craft distilling industry and is located in Hayward, Calif. The organization worked with Louisville’s Distilled Spirits Epicenter to bring the yearly event to Louisville.
“Kentucky continues to grow as an epicenter for not just bourbon but the entire field of craft spirits distilling in America,” said Distilled Spirits Epicenter owner David Dafoe. “By working with ADI to bring the conference to Louisville, we will continue that growth by showing spirits professionals from around the country the benefits of our city.”
According to the news release, the event “will feature dozens of off-site workshops at regional distilleries including gin distillation at Moonshine University, absinthe making at Copper & Kings American Brandy Co., rye whiskey training at Willett Distilling Co. and vodka production at Wilderness Trail Distillery.”
The conference is March 30-April 2. It’s $500 to attend the conference, and workshops cost extra. If you just want a day pass for the Expo, it’s $95. Register here.
