This may be a first for Louisville – dinner with a side of rock stars.
YADDA’s Four Roses and Legends fundraising dinner in conjunction with IdeaFestival – scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Harvest Restaurant – will include an acoustic performance by top session musicians who are scheduled to return for the 2014 IdeaFestival finale concert, according to a news release.
Those musicians have performed with, or written songs for, top acts including Genesis, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Ray Charles, and are some of the same guys who blew it up last year at the special concert that closed NuLu Fest.
The Four Roses and Legends farm-to-table dinner will spotlight regional farmers. Harvest Chef Coby Ming has created a menu with pairings from Four Roses Bourbon. Menu items include smoky bourbon pimento cheese, cold buttermilk fried chicken, burgoo, pork confit, jalapeno-bacon grits, and more (vegetarian options available by request).
The after-dinner concert will feature:
• Shake Anderson, the Louisville native and Grammy-nominated artist who is referred to as a “Super Sideman.” The producer, writer and arranger who has worked with acts including Earth, Wind & Fire and The Impressions.
• Chester Thompson, Grammy winning drummer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member who is currently touring with Genesis. He’s played with legendary acts including Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and Weather Report.
• Darrell Tibbs, award-winning percussionist with Take 6, Donna Summer, Moody Blues and The Neville Brothers.
• Thomas Cain, former VP of BMI, songwriter who has worked with Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck and Ramsey Lewis, among others.
YADDA is a Louisville-based nonprofit that supports musicians throughout their careers, helping with family issues related to the stress of touring as well as increasing financial pressure as the digital age restructures the music industry.
