grind burgerGrind Burger Kitchen is leaving its current home in Audubon Park for NuLu.

Owner Liz and Jesse Huot announced on Facebook that the restaurant will move from 3311 Preston Hwy. to 829 E. Market St., the former Earth Friends Cafe space.

“We are looking forward to adding more seating, more parking, a full bar and a kitchen we’re building to our specifications,” the Huots wrote. “Unfortunately this also means that we will be leaving our little, yellow, peeled-paint, bullet-holed building on Preston.”

The landlord plans to sell the building once Grind Burger Kitchen’s lease is up in February, so the couple decided it was the right time to move. A lack of parking and the small dining room were causing problems and forcing them to turn away business.

“While our neighbors have been more than gracious, it has become difficult for them to conduct regular business with all you crazy, burger fans taking up all the spaces,” the post states. “We have enjoyed our time there and are disappointed to have to leave the neighborhood but after looking for nearly 6 months (including the Audubon/Germantown area) for a new location, we ultimately landed on a wonderful spot not too far down the road.”

They plan to open the NuLu location before the end of the year.

The restaurant, which spun out of a successful food truck business, opened on Preston Highway near the Kentucky Exposition Center in June of last year.
