If you’re like us, you catch yourself on Fridays wondering, “So, I wonder what New2 Lou is up to?”
The answer is, “A lot.” No one tracks all the city has to offer better than Stacey and Amador Delatorre III, who created New2Lou for new arrivals in Louisville … and anyone trying to expand their social horizons.
You know … who are you going to trust with your weekend? Some hipster at the local weekly, or a Louisville power couple?
Here’s how the weekend shapes up, as they see it:
Friday (10/19) DisTRUCKtion at Apocalypse Brew Works – Evening filled with food trucks, beer and awesome tunes at Apocalypse Brew Works from 5 – 10 pm. Trucks attending include Lil Cheezers, Holy Mole, Grind, Bluegrass Brick Oven Pizza, French Indo-Canada and Annie May’s Sweet Cafe. To quote the Facebook event page, “ Grab some friends, grab a beer and some grub and get ready for a night of total disTRUCKtion!” We’ll cheers to that!
Saturday (10/20) Mayor’s Fall Hike and Outdoor Adventure – Perfect excuse to get some exercise and check out the fall foliage at Jefferson Memorial Forest. Enjoy family-friendly activities from 9 am – 2 pm, including a 5 k race, forest hike, pumpkins and pumpkin decorating and hay rides.
Saturday (10/20) Twilight Tour of Cave Hill Cemetery – With the exception of guided tours, Cave Hill Cemetery shuts its gate at dusk. Here’s your chance to see it in a whole new light (or lack there of). Hop on a tram and explore with grounds with guide Steve Wiser. The tour is historically focused, but we’re betting it might be a little creepy too. Perfect to get you in the Halloween mood.
Sunday (10/21) Fright Light Halloween Parties – family friendly event with Halloween-themed games and Fright Light Laser Music Show at University of Louisville Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium from from 3-6 pm. Admission is $5 per person.
