Somm Slams are fun and interactive events that pair local sommeliers with chefs to see which team can create the best wine-pairing experience for guests. The chefs create a course and the wine experts choose two wines accordingly that will complement the food — and guests get to sit back, enjoy the food and wine, and then vote for their favorites.
Louisville’s first-ever Somm Slam will be held on Monday, March 6, at the Louvino in Douglass Hills. It features some of the area’s top chefs, like Tavis Rockwell and his Louvino team, Patrick Roney of Harvest Restaurant, and Jeff Dailey of Corbett’s An American Place. And sommeliers include Michael Henry and Danielle Bramblett of Louvino, Kenny Andreozzi of Commonwealth Tap, and Julie deFriend of 8UP, among many others.
Hosted by Brown-Forman’s chief entertaining officer Tim Laird, the event also will raise funds for APRON Inc., which supports service industry folks in times of need.
Somm Slam will start at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 6. Tickets are $125 per person, but that includes four courses with two wine pairings per course. Reservations can be made online. The Douglass Hills Louvino is located at 11400 Main St. in Middletown.
