More than 5,000 artist-carved pumpkins soon will be aglow at Iroquois Park‘s annual Jack O’Lantern Spectacular. The event that draws thousands from near and far will open Thursday, Oct. 13, and continue through Nov. 6.
This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful,” and organizers have added live music and entertainment options for people as they wait in line. If you’ve gone, you know the lines can sometimes be long, especially on weekends. So organizers also recommend you buy tickets early online to avoid the box office line.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $9 for children, and proceeds benefit the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation. The 1,500-foot-long trail stays open each night from 7 p.m.-midnight.
The Jack O’Lantern Spectacular was named one of the top 21 reasons to visit Louisville in a recent article by the Huffington Post. That, and the fact it uses local artists to create beautiful albeit temporary works of art, are reasons enough to plan a visit.
