Tuesdays are quite possibly one of the most mundane days of the week. Other than serving as a voting day once or twice a year, what else does it have going for it? The Kentucky Center for the Arts has taken pity on the insignificant day and planned free outdoor happy hours each Tuesday through the month of June.
Beginning on Tuesday, June 7, the courtyard and steps out front of the center will play host to live music, food trucks and even adult beverages beginning at 5 p.m. The idea is to bring people together for no other reason than to have fun and celebrate life. It also sounds like a good way to avoid the 5 o’clock rush hour and get to know some local bands.
First up on June 7 is Cosa Seria, a seven-piece Latin-influenced ensemble that’ll play salsa, timba and other contemporary Latin rhythms. On Tuesday, June 14, it’s the Hot Brown Smackdown, which is a bluegrass/rock/jamgrass band that plays intermittent bursts of funk.
Next, on Tuesday, June 21, it’s the Joe Dunn Band, Louisville’s latest funk/soul/R&B ensemble that plays all originals music. And finally, on Tuesday, June 28, it’s Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters, a gritty Americana band that’ll keep your toes tapping.
Watch out Thursday, Tuesday could be stealing your thunder.
