Pins, posters, T-shirts, mugs … you throw a big festival each year, and these things start to pile up.

Hence the Kentucky Derby Festival’s 17th annual yard sale, which starts Friday, June 8, and continues Saturday, June 9, at its headquarters on 1001 S. Third St. in Old Louisville. The free event runs from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday.

According to a news release, the yard sale will feature event T-shirts, Derby Festival pins, posters from years past, glassware, Christopher Radko collector’s ornaments, and other pieces that span the festival’s history.

Also, for those who ran the Marathon/MiniMarathon, if you wear your medal from a previous race, you’ll have the chance to buy a 2018 marathon T-shirt for $10 and receive a second one free.

So what do the prices look like? You’ll be able to purchase cotton shirts for $3 each, or two for $5; posters for $10; postcards for $2; and glassware at various amounts.

The Derby Festival Pin Wagon will return this year as well, featuring all of the 2018 pins as well as a look back at pins throughout the history of the festival, even some dating back to the 1970s.

Cash and cards are accepted. Happy hunting.
