The grounds of the historic Water Tower are about to get busy as the 11th annual Buy Local Fair, hosted by the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), takes over on Sunday, May 19, with more than 180 local businesses.

The free event (parking is $7 per car) features booths from businesses and organizations, food and drink vendors, arts and crafts, an area for children and much more. Live music on the main stage includes various bands from Mom’s Music, the Louisville Folk School and Bluestars, and there will be an acoustic stage feature the Steel Drum Band and more.

If you’re a fan of local chefs, there will be a cooking competition courtesy of Rainbow Blossom that features Jeff Dailey of Harvest and Griffin Paulin of Mirin. And if you’d like to enjoy some adult beverages, there will be a craft beer tent, liquor from Heaven Hill, Copper & Kings and Transformation Spirits, and even a few wineries, plus a “Back Porch” area sponsored by Cox’s Smokers Outlet.

And just like years past, there will be handcrafted mugs available for beer drinkers that are $20 apiece or $35 with three drink tickets, and you can get around the $7 parking fee by riding your bike or walking in.

The Buy Local Fair will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. The Louisville Water Tower is located at 3005 River Road.
