WFPK’s Kyle Meredith said he squealed when J.K. McKnight told him the newly-reunited Replacements, Paul Westerberg and all, would be among the headliners for the upcoming Forecastle 2014.

“This is the best Forecastle you’ve ever seen,” McKnight said, just before announcing the lineup on WFPK Tuesday morning.

The lineup is impressive indeed, with a reunited Outkast on board, along with Jack White and Beck, whose latest album Morning Phase is drawing high praise.

Other well known acts announced are singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne, rock trio Band of Horses, Austin-based Spoon, acoustic trio Nickel Creek, hillbilly rocker Dwight Yoakam, indie-pop duo Twenty One Pilots, soul siren Sharon Jones, Grammy-winning blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. and Drive-by Truckers front man Jason Isbell.

Also on the list are Louisville’s own Slint (another squeal-worthy reunion), singer-songwriter Hays Carll, JJ Grey & Mofro and  experimental pop artist Tune-Yards. The list of talent scheduled to perform is long.

McKnight also said there will be a portion of the festival called Kentucky Landing, which will be similar to the Louisville Village from Forecastle 2012, but with state-wide vendors.

He said it will be “a real selection of all different things: Microbreweries, distilleries, arts and craft vendors, non-profits, all types of stuff.”

A limited number of weekend passes go on sale this Friday, March 7, at noon at ForecastleFest.com, Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. Weekend passes start at $144.50 plus applicable service fees. VIP experiences, travel packages and payment-plan options will also be available.
