If you decide to treat yourself to a meal out on Wednesday, Feb. 8, be sure to choose a place from the list of nearly 50 below. Those participating restaurants will donate a portion of that day’s proceeds to Apron Inc., a local nonprofit that helps support restaurant workers forced to take time off due to an accident or illness.

It’s the fifth year for Dine Around for Apron, and more restaurants than ever have signed up to back the cause. It doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner — all proceeds go directly to Apron, which in turn will provide temporary financial aid to servers, chefs, bartenders and others who can’t work.

Chef Ellen Gill McCarty of Science Hill Inn knows firsthand how important the organization is for restaurant industry workers. In 2014, Apron helped support her after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and faced financial difficulties.

“I am so excited to participate in another great Apron fundraising event,” McCarty said in a press release. “Dine Around not only allows you to eat at some great restaurants, but you also get to help support a great organization that helps so many in the hospitality industry.”

In 2016 alone, Apron gave out more than $40,000 in grants.
