The NuLu Business Association (NBA) has big plans to further spruce up the East Market neighborhood. Termed “NuLu Art 16,” the venture includes an initial public art installation that will coincide with the NuLu Streetscape project slated to be completed by the fall of 2016.
Tonight there will be a news conference and public reception on “NuLu Art 16” at Garner Narrative, 642 E. Market St., from 5-7 p.m. The NBA has selected Jennifer McGregor, a nationally recognized public art curator, to lead the project. Gill Holland, president of the NBA, says McGregor is an “expert with substantive experience conceiving and managing contemporary art projects.”
She currently directs arts programing at Wave Hill, a public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River in the Bronx. She also consults on national projects, including spearheading the Public Art Network for Americans for the Arts and conceiving a five-year public art strategy for the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston.
“I am excited to be working in Louisville, particularly in such a creative, fast-growing and forward-thinking neighborhood,” McGregor says.
McGregor, along with members of the NBA, will be at the “NuLu Art 16” reception tonight to discuss the project and answer questions. RSVP here.
